Update: Der Tag, an dem Anton den Widerlan fand

I finally found my tape. In total around 2-3 minutes (interrupted). Only one PE scene, around 1 minute. First, one boy in shiny, light red shorts and later the sporty, blonde boy (last pic in the middle) in light green shorts, probably the same brand, unknown if shiny. Can anybody identify the brand? Looks like an “LO” or <O. On the sides are white patterns like a row of “><” .

One more pic of a chubby boy sitting in medium blue shorts in the main entry (only shown from a distance). There’s also a girl in pink shorts (probably not shiny) and the chubby boy in large, white shorts (non shiny, pic 4 on the left). Anton is on the right. He usually wore belted, light blue, purple checkered cotton shorts/knickers.

The sporty boy is later shown at home sitting on an exercise bike but in long, light grey cotton pants. I haven’t made a vid, just some few pics at higher res.

Der Tag, an dem Anton den Widerlan fand

Family film, 6 ep
Year: 1989
Year in film: 1980s
Country: Austria, Germany
Who in shorts: boys ~10-11 ?
Who in shorts 2: girls ??
Available on DVD: no
I own: no, partly TV recording
Clothing occurence: very low ?
Rating:  6/10
Rating: ******
Comment: When I remember it correctly, there’s at least one PE scene with boys and maybe girls probably in shiny shorts, also sitting on benches (probably at least white and blue ones, maybe red) and one athletic boy with a treadmill at home (not sue if shorts and/or long pants). The main character is 10 yo, maybe some kids are 11 or even older.

I had to think about this series, maybe because of the announcement of The Little Ghost (2013) (Das Kleine Gespenst, bedroom blog, rating 6).

I must have one or two episodes (partly) on VHS and maybe some few digitized pics or short clips. I didn’t came across them, the recent searches and I currently don’t have the time to check again all my backups and tapes.

Pics will hopefully be added later. Nice series, unfortunately not available on DVD.

Rating 6 for now. Updte: Found. Removing tag white, adding red and green. Some few more pics at

Carlitos y el campo de los sueños

Family / soccer film
Year: 2008
Year in film: 2000s
Country: Spain
Who in shorts: boys ~9-12 ?
Who in shorts 2:
Available on DVD: yes
I own: yes, TV recording
Clothing occurence: medium
Rating:  5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: Several Soccer boys in longer, dark blue, medium blue, white, red and maybe black and I think one in dark green shiny shorts, mainly or only Adidas. But I think some without stripes. Also locker room and sitting scenes. My favorites are the white ones.

And a girl in bib overalls, other blog, rating 5 (soon be updated).

Not that bad, but I prefer shorter shorts and US movies. Quite good family movie. English title: Carlitos and the Chance of a Lifetime. Has been aired long time ago, so I don’t remember everything.

So rating 5.

Kids Soccer training show, 13 ep
Year in film:
Germany, (UK)
Who in shorts:
boys ~9-14 ?
Who in shorts 2:
Available on DVD:
I own:
no, partly TV recording
Clothing occurence:
Some boys and girls in medium green (modern Adidas) shorts, also at least white and red shorts. Also men in different shorts (vintage footage clips of Soccer games). Subtitle: Die großen Tricks der Superstars.

Another rare show from my VHS tapes. I think I have 3 partial episodes. Episodes were very short, I think around 5 minutes. The intro is maybe always the same with kids in green and red shorts, also with a younger boy. The footage scenes of men are also not of interest. The best scenes are these introductions of a single kid by Rummenigge, both walking towards the camera. And this is my favourite. Pictured is 12 yo Jimmy from London. Perfect walking scene. The others I have is an older girl and one or 2 boys, one in green as well which is on YouTube and other boy and girl, I think in white.

Although few and brief perfect scenes, I give rating 10 as well (top rank 3 or 4 after Pfiff). Update: A US boy in white shorts, rating 6

Update: Manni, der Libero

As announced, I have now rechecked almost all episodes (except ep 1-3). Mostly, the teen boys wore dark blue Adidas shorts with yellow and also white stripes (with inner briefs). Also sitting like in ep 6.

At least twice in shiny white Adidas shorts with blue stripes (pic 1 from ep 7 showing Thomas Ohrner).

Pic 2 showing younger boys in ep 13 in dark blue, non-Adidas shorts. Brief scene and I think the only younger boys except of ep 1.

Pic 3 showing the opposite team in shiny green Adidas shorts, some shorts are tight. Episode 4.

Pic 4 showing a Turkish team in black Adidas shorts in ep 8.

About half of the series, they don’t show Soccer scenes. Main entry, rating 6 at

Update 2: Kidsongs

Last night, I remembered The Cedarmont Kids and especially the song “She’ll Be Comin’ ‘Round the Mountain” (overalls blog, rating 8), and so, I’ve checked if there are other clips. And I found a version from Kidsongs. And later some more clips of them. Updates on my other blog also coming soon.

Pictured is the song “Footloose” (1987). I have checked almost all Kidsongs vid, and I wonder, how I could miss this and others.

At least a girl and boy in light blue shiny Adidas shorts. Also Basketball playing boys and girls in green and yellow shorts. Very good, although some kids are very young.

Main entry, rating 8 at

Update 3: Meatballs

As announced, some more scenes and pics of this great movie. I think, I have to make one more post, but later.

Pic 1 showing next to the boy in red (non-shiny trunks) a longhaired teen in green shorts at 1h04. Is this a girl? Shorts look shiny. There are more boys, women and young men in green, mainly Adidas shorts but most are not shiny, maybe just one of a young man (high jump scene).

Pic 2 showing a teen boy in beige or maybe white or similar shorts at 1h04. I haven’t noticed other scenes of beige shorts.

Pic 3 showing a young lady in light red, short shorts at around 10 minutes. Bill Murray also in red but I think non-shiny shorts.

Pic 4 a thin, young lady in red Adidas shiny shorts at 17 minutes. But I don’t like her at all. Reminds me of Sleepaway Camp (rating 9).

Rating 5-6 for this scenes. Main entry, rating 8 at

Update 2: Meatballs

I now have completely rechecked my DVD. There are much more (shiny) shorts scenes including young women. But mostly young men/ older teen boys. Most colors are red and white. I don’t want too much pics in a single post and will make at least one more update later.

Some very good Adidas shorts (including women), but some aren’t shiny. Also other shorts including jeans shorts. Also few boys in speedos. I think no board shorts.

Pic 1 showing my favourite scene of Rudy at 36 minutes in shiny white 70s style shorts with red boarders. More scenes at the very end (pic 2, a bit wet). He mainly wore jeans shorts.

Pic 2 at 1h21 also showing a boy in red shiny Adidas shorts (with inner briefs) and an older boy in rare, orange Adidas (Handball ?) shorts with dark blue stripes. Brief scene. Also a shirtless older teen boy in dark green Adidas shorts, but probably not shiny.

Pic 3 at 1h17 showing next to 2 older kids in red shorts (is the right one a girl ?) also 2 boys on the left in white and blue shorts. Another spectators also there, dark blue shorts, probably not shiny, another one in red and I think green.

Pic 4 at 17 minutes showing a boy in white shorts (good scenes walking downstairs) and another one on the left in dark blue shorts.

One older teen boy in beige shorts at 1h04 (close up). One older guy wearing sweat pants underneath orange shorts. Also sitting scenes of boys (distance).

As said more pics, including women later. I also found another boy and girl in bib overalls (see my other blog, rating 3).

Notable scenes:

4 minutes, 10, 12, 17, 28, 29, 36, 45, 1h03, 1h04, 1h18, 1h21.

Main entry, still rating 8 (but rather 7-8) at

The Body Works (1979)

Who in shorts:
boys ~6-15 ?
Who in shorts 2:
girls ~7-15 ?
Available on DVD:
no ?

Clothing occurence:
always ?
8/10 ?
Finally some very good shiny Adidas shorts. By coincidence, or better during research, I found this interesting series. (Teen) boys and girls mainly in white shorts. 70s style white shorts with a red stripe and boarders but also already shiny, white Adidas shorts with dark blue stripes, also sitting.

Mainly in the studio doing sports but also other kids outside in other colored shorts like blue and light green (not Adidas).

I don’t know all episodes. ACCESS Network and TVOntario 40×10 minutes.

Rating at least 8 for now. They should release this on DVD.

Langnese (1985 commercial)

Theatre ice cream commercial, 1985 version
Year: 1985
Year in film: 1985
Country: Germany
Who in shorts: boys ~10-11 ?
Who in shorts 2: young men
Available on DVD: no ?

Clothing occurence: low *
Rating:  8/10
Rating: ********
Comment: Next to some young men or older teen boys (also shirtless), there are 2 notable scenes of boys in this 1985 commercial. First, one boy in shiny white Adidas shorts with red stripes (side and rear view when running away after focussing a sunbeam through a lens to the hairy chest of the old man) and later a boy in light green (non-Adidas) shorts.

The white shorts are not splitted at the sides, I think Handball or Volleyball shorts. I think with inner briefs. I never own that one.

There are also other Langnese commercials with young men and young women in shiny shorts, coming soon.

This is maybe the most famous German commercial ever. No movie in the theatres without it and selling ice cream after it before starting the main movie. Nice song Like Ice in the Sunshine. But as usual, rather short scenes. I found it by coincidence.

Rating 8-9.
